Fixtures announced for 2026 NPL Women’s NNSW competition

Reigning premiers and champions Charlestown Azzurri will host New Lambton FC at Lisle Carr Oval in the opening round of the 2026 NPL Women’s NNSW competition in February.

Northern NSW Football announced the draw for its 2026 premier competitions on Friday, including its top tier women’s competition.

Next year will be the fifth NPL Women’s NNSW season with Lake Macquarie City returning for their second season after replacing Warners Bay FC in 2025.

Azzurri will start their NPL Women’s NNSW title defence against New Lambton on Friday 20 February.

Elsewhere in round one, Lake Macquarie City FC will host Newcastle Olympic at Macquarie Field on Saturday 21 February. Broadmeadow Magic will face Adamstown Rosebud JFC at Magic Park on Sunday 22 February, while Maitland FC have the bye.

The 2026 HMRI Charity Shield will take place between double winners Charlestown Azzurri and Maitland FC on the weekend of February 13 to 15. Match details including venue and kick-off times will be confirmed later, with all proceeds going to the Hunter Medical Research Institute.

The match will be played as a double header alongside the men’s HMRI Charity Shield between the NPL Men’s NNSW premiers and champions Broadmeadow Magic and the Men’s State Cup winners Cooks Hill United.

NNSWF General Manager Football Operations Liam Bentley said he looked forward to another thrilling NPL Women’s NNSW season.

“The 2025 season was one of the most entertaining NPL Women’s NNSW seasons we’ve had to date, with the race for the premiership coming down to the final whistle and the crowning of the champions being separated by a single goal. So I am really looking forward to another exciting year of competition,” Bentley said.

“It was fantastic to see Lake Macquarie City come into the competition in 2025 and with significant personnel changes across a number of clubs it is anyone’s game in 2026.

“We have once again made it a concerted effort to spread the matches for each league throughout the weekend this season, with more Friday night football and multiple time slots on Saturdays and Sundays to make it easier for everyone to get to or watch more games than ever before.

“We wish everyone all the best for the 2026 season.”

There will also be special commemorative rounds for:

  • Female Football Week from 8 to 17 May
  • Pride Round from 19 to 21 June
  • Indigenous Round from 17 to 19 July
  • Mental Health Week from 7 to 9 August

NPL Women’s NNSW match days will feature first and reserve grade matches as well as the youth component of NPL Women’s NNSW – the Premier Youth League Girls competition – for under 13s, 15s and 17s.

For the second year the Premier Youth League Girls grand final will be a standalone day.
