Football Mid North Coast Youth Development Academy Enjoys Outstanding School Holiday Tournament Success
The Football Mid North Coast (FMNC) Youth Development Academy has wrapped up an outstanding school holiday period, with players showcasing their talent, determination and development across two major tournaments.
The first event saw FMNC YDA teams travel to Speers Point, Newcastle, to compete in the Newcastle Permanent Community State Youth Championships. Representing Football Mid North Coast were two 12s YDA squads in both girls and boys, 13s Boys, 14s Girls, 15s Boys and 16s Girls, who faced the best representative teams from across Northern NSW Football over three days of competition.
It was an exceptional tournament for the Academy, with every FMNC team progressing through to their respective grand finals. Three teams were crowned champions, with the 12s North Girls, 12s South Boys and 13s Boys all claiming State Championship titles after impressive tournament campaigns. The remaining teams also delivered outstanding performances, finishing as runners-up after highly competitive grand finals.
The Academy's success continued this week as three teams travelled to Canberra to compete in the prestigious Kanga Cup, one of the largest international youth football tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere.
The FMNC YDA was represented by the 10s Girls Dolphins, 11s Girls Dolphins and 11s Boys Sharks, all competing in the Plate divisions against strong opposition from across Australia and overseas.
The 10s Girls produced some excellent football throughout the week, finishing third in their pool after a series of competitive matches.
Both the 11s Girls Dolphins and 11s Boys Sharks advanced to their respective grand finals after impressive performances throughout the tournament. The 11s Girls battled hard in a closely contested final, finishing as deserving runners-up after a fantastic week of football.
The 11s Boys Sharks capped off a remarkable tournament by producing a dominant 4-0 victory in the grand finale to be crowned 11s Open Plate Champions.
Football Mid North Coast congratulates every player, coach, manager and family involved across both tournaments. These achievements are a testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication shown throughout the year by everyone involved in the Youth Development Academy.
The performances across both tournaments highlight the continued growth of football within the Mid North Coast and demonstrate the strength of the FMNC Youth Development Academy pathway. The future is certainly bright for football in our region.
