Young girls in Narrabri are proudly pulling on the green and gold as Narrabri Junior Soccer Club launches its Coles MiniTillies Kick-Off program.
The five-session introductory program started on Saturday 25 July and will run fortnightly from 11am to 12.30pm, giving local girls the chance to experience football in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment. Every registered participant will also receive a bonus Coles MiniTillies participation pack, adding to the excitement surrounding the program.
The arrival of the packs has created plenty of excitement among participants, with many girls eager to wear the green and gold for the first time.
“The girls have been incredibly excited, especially now that their Coles MiniTillies packs have started arriving,” said Narrabri JSC Vice President Sam Lubke-Wood.
“We’ve been capturing photos of their excitement as they proudly wear the green and gold for the first time and it’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm.”
The program is designed to introduce girls to football in a way that is inclusive, supportive and focused on participation, particularly for those who may be trying the game for the first time.
“We’re very proud to be part of the Coles MiniTillies Program and the opportunity it provides to encourage girls of all abilities to give football a go, especially those who may have been sitting on the sidelines wondering if the game is for them,” Lubke-Wood said.
As a qualified coach with a strong passion for football and the local community, Lubke-Wood said the program was about much more than developing football skills.
“The aim of the program is to build confidence, develop fundamental skills and create a fun, supportive environment where every girl feels welcome,” Lubke-Wood said.
“Those skills and confidence can then be taken into the game as they continue their football journey.”
With strong early interest, Narrabri JSC hopes the program can continue beyond its initial five-week format, providing more opportunities for girls to stay involved in football and continue developing their skills, confidence and friendships.
The initiative reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for young girls in regional communities to feel connected, supported and inspired through football.
