The goal is simple for Wallsend: win, and the title is theirs.
Sitting two points clear of Lake Macquarie City FC after the Roosters' drew with South Cardiff FC last weekend, the race is now in Wallsend's hands.
With every game of the round kicking off at the same time, a Lake Macquarie win over Toronto Awaba FC would still leave the door open for the Roosters on goal difference should Wallsend draw themselves.
Simply, anything less than three points from Wallsend could see the title slip away to Lake Macquarie.
Wallsend will arrive full of confidence after a 7-0 demolition of arch-rivals West Wallsend SFC in the derby last round, a day to remember for the club as it lifted them to top spot after Lake Macquarie drew.
The turnaround for the club has been remarkable; this time last year, Wallsend were fighting to avoid relegation on the final day of the season, and twelve months on they find themselves needing a win to be crowned champions.
Wallsend head coach Chris Gallagher said the club's transformation over the past year reflects the work put in since preseason.
"It's a testament to the local products we've been bringing through at the club," Gallagher said.
"Preseason was tough, and we made sure the boys worked hard; we're direct, we're aggressive, and we're fit. We know who we are."
Gallagher was quick to credit the strength in depth that carried Wallsend through a round without several first-choice players.
"It was a great squad performance," Gallagher said.
"We knew we only needed one goal, and once we got it, it was about being patient and disciplined and making sure we took our chances when they came."
Turning to Saturday's opponents, Gallagher acknowledged the size of the task against a Croatia side he rates among the most experienced in the competition.
"They are arguably the most experienced football club in our competition, and there's no one that has the quality that they have," Gallagher said.
"We've got to concentrate for 90 minutes on our role, take our chances when we get them, and defend well.
“I think us and Lakes have the best defensive setups in the competition, so we know we can do it.
“We've got a few individuals in the group that have played in these grand final-type games, so we know it’ll be tough, but it’s about getting the basics right and making sure we stick to our principles like we would any other game”.
For Croatia, the visit of the league leaders carries its own stakes, with the club looking for a win to lock in third place on the table, meaning they would avoid facing an NPL Men’s NNSW outfit in their first set of promotion/relegation play-off fixtures.
The result would also extend a strong run of form that has come from three straight wins, most recently a 2-1 victory over Cessnock City Hornets that moved them into third and confirmed their spot in the promotion/relegation play-off series.
Croatia head coach Joshua Popescu says the primary motivation heading into the game is building momentum towards the play-off fixtures rather than spoiling Wallsend's title charge.
"The most important thing for us is keeping that momentum and getting the confidence of beating one of the top teams," Popescu said.
"We've already done it against Lake Macquarie this year, so it would be great to go into the play-offs confident we can beat two of the top sides in the competition."
Popescu acknowledged the pressure Wallsend will be facing this weekend but remains purely focused on their own game and objective.
"There will be more pressure on them than us; we've already achieved what we wanted this year," Popescu said.
"All eyes will be on Wallsend, but our focus is purely on our own football."
The game also falls on a big date for the club, with Croatia set to celebrate their season in front of a big home crowd.
"It's our sponsors' and old boys' day, so we obviously want to get a win in front of the home crowd and celebrate the season," Popescu said.
"We'll be leaving it all on the pitch and going all out this Saturday."
A win for Croatia would lock in third place and send them into the promotion/relegation play-off series full of confidence against a fellow HIT106.9 Northern League One side.
For Wallsend, a win would deliver the title and confirm automatic promotion into the top-flight for the first time since 2001, capping off an historic season that has more than defied expectations.

There is still hope working in South Cardiff's favour, however.
If the Gunners were to win and the Stags draw or lose, survival is confirmed.
A superior goal difference over Toronto adds another path too; a draw against the Bluebells would be enough to jump ahead, provided Lake Macquarie beat the Stags themselves.
With the Roosters also needing a win to keep their title hopes alive, a Toronto loss is the more favourable forecast.
South Cardiff cannot simply bank on that outcome though, having proven Lake Macquarie's vulnerability just last weekend in a 2-2 draw at Macquarie Field.

They needed a win in the final round last season to keep their status in the division, and they'll draw belief from having done it once already.
For the Gunners, the message is simple: control the only variable they can, which is to claim all three points.
West Wallsend arrive at the other end of a heavy defeat, having hit one of their lowest points in years in a 7-0 derby defeat to local rivals Wallsend FC last weekend, a result that leaves the Red Devils on the brink of automatic promotion.
The Bluebells have now lost four straight and sit eighth on the table, with nothing left to play for in terms of the top four or the relegation fight.
There remains some incentive on the table regardless, with a win capable of lifting the Bluebells as high as sixth depending on how other results fall, a respectable finish given how the season has both started and ended for the club.
For West Wallsend, the aim is to close out a difficult campaign with a positive result and regain some momentum to build on for next season.
As for South Cardiff, a win would keep their survival hopes and fate in the hands of a Lake Macquarie result elsewhere, hoping that by full-time they keep their status as a HIT106.9 Northern League One club.

Sitting just one point ahead of South Cardiff FC at the bottom of the table, Toronto enter the fixture knowing that a win will guarantee safety regardless of what happens elsewhere.
While a Gunners loss would also be enough to keep them up, Toronto cannot rely on that alone.
They know they'll need three points of their own should South Cardiff find a win.
A draw could be enough too, provided South Cardiff also draw or lose, but that scenario carries too much risk for Toronto to simply play for a point, especially given all games are played at the same time.
As the Gunners face a West Wallsend SFC side with nothing major to play for, a South Cardiff win will be seen as a serious possibility, meaning three points here for the Stags is a must.
Toronto will enter the fixture with disappointment attached to the situation, having missed the chance to confirm survival a week earlier, falling 1-0 to Singleton Strikers last round.
It caps what has been a surprising season for a club that had fallen just short of promotion to the NPL Men’s NNSW competition in each of the past two campaigns.

For Lake Macquarie, simply anything less than three points and the title belongs to Wallsend.
