Northern NSW Football is thrilled to launch the NNSWF Futsal Championship, with teams from across the region to compete for the title of champions in NNSWF's first official futsal competition.
The competition will provide a consistent and structured futsal competition across northern NSW, creating a clear player pathway from club futsal through to NNSWF representative teams and the Football Australia National Futsal Championships.
The NNSWF Futsal Championship will feature three age groups:
- Under-13s boys and girls
- Under-15s boys and girls
- Under-17s boys and girls
These age groups support long-term player development and provide a clear progression pathway towards senior men’s and women’s futsal.
Operating as one NNSWF competition, the NNSWF Futsal Championship will be delivered through two conferences: the Northern Conference and Southern Conference.
The Northern Conference will be delivered through three festival weekends across Ballina, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.
Regional teams will play two matches at each festival to complete a six-match double round robin competition. The Northern Conference will commence on the weekend of 17-18 October 2026.
The Southern Conference will run over eight weeks, including one super round weekend, to ensure teams complete a full double round robin competition before finals. The Southern Conference will commence the week of 12 October 2026.
The top two teams from each conference in their respective age groups will come together in Port Macquarie on the weekend of 12-13 December 2026 for the NNSWF Futsal Championship finals.
The competition will serve as a key talent identification opportunity for players aiming to be selected in NNSWF representative teams attending the FA National Futsal Championships in January 2027.
Alongside player selection, the competition will provide coaches and selectors with regular opportunities to observe players performing in a structured club environment.
Individual teams are invited to enter the NNSWF Futsal Championship, with priority given to clubs that enter multiple age groups.
All teams must be affiliated with an existing club and have written permission to use the club name. Teams may also establish a new entity and affiliate as a club.
Clubs and teams interested in participating can complete an expression of interest HERE. Applications close Friday 21 August 2026.
NNSWF Futsal Development Manager Damon Shaw said the inaugural competition would be a significant milestone for the growth of futsal in the region.
