Lambton Jaffas, Edgeworth FC and Newcastle Jets are ready to represent northern NSW in the 2024 Australia Cup national round of 32.
Lambton will face a tough test when they host A-League Men’s club Melbourne Victory, while Edgeworth will travel to Western Australia to take on Olympic Kingsway SC.
Newcastle Jets will proceed to the national round of 32 if they are victorious over fellow A-League Men’s club Western United when they meet on Wednesday 24 July at Darwin Football Stadium. The Jets will face NPL NSW club Rockdale Ilinden FC away from home if they proceed to the national round of 32.
The Australia Cup 2024 national round of 32 will be played over two weeks from late July to mid-August, with fixture details to be confirmed.
This will only be Lambton’s second time in the national competition and first since 2016. While this is the second year in a row that Edgeworth have qualified for the national round of 32 and sixth year overall since the start of the competition, with the Eagles also the oldest club to participate in this year’s Australia Cup.
A late header from Patrick Bond saw Lambton down Broadmeadow Magic 2-1 in their round seven preliminary match to qualify as one of NNSWF’s two representatives in the national round of 32. While Edgeworth advanced with a 1-0 win over Newcastle Olympic thanks to a 22nd minute goal from Ryan Feutz.
Northern NSW Football General Manager Football Operations Liam Bentley wished Lambton and Edgeworth well for their national round of 32 fixtures.
