Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce Largs FC as its Club Changer of the Month for May.
Club Changer is Football Australia’s Club Development program, which aims to enhance clubs for long-term viability and success.
This month’s Club Changer focus was workforce and volunteers, with Largs FC continuing to grow and develop its committee.
Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, Largs introduced new committee members and leadership who shared a vision for the club’s future.
The club committed to a new direction by introducing a junior football program for the 2025 season, aimed at fostering grassroots participation and creating long-term growth for both the club and the local community.
The 2025 season also saw the club launch three junior teams featuring a mix of boys and girls. The expansion sparked strong community engagement, with parents stepping forward to volunteer and contribute to building a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
As a result of these changes, the club’s committee welcomed three female members and achieved a 50/50 gender balance, reflecting the club’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Building on the success of 2025, Largs FC expanded its junior program to seven teams and celebrated the registration of the club’s first-ever senior women’s team, further strengthening opportunities for women and girls in football.
Largs FC President Michael Gordon said he was thrilled to see the club recognised for its commitment to football and growing the game.
“As President of Largs Football Club, I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved in such a short period of time for our community, for the sport, and for the advancement of women and girls in football,” Gordon said.
“This progress would not have been possible without the dedication and effort of our committee, parents, volunteers, and sponsors.
“Their ongoing support has been vital in shaping the club into what it is today and in driving our vision for the future.”
Hunter Valley Football General Manager Michael Carraro said he was delighted to see Largs FC acknowledged for its hard work.
“Rising from catering for All-Age football only two seasons ago, Largs FC has expanded its operations to include many Coles MiniRoos teams,” Carraro said.
“This effort has only been possible through the hard-working committee at Largs FC, many of whom are newcomers to the volunteering world of football.”
