NNSWF board re-elected following 2023 AGM

Northern NSW Football held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday with Football Australia CEO James Johnson in attendance to address NNSWF’s Members.

Johnson arrived at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility direct from Bangkok, Thailand where he represented Football Australia at the 34th AFC Congress.

He was invited by NNSWF CEO Peter Haynes to present at the Peak Steering Committee (PSC) meeting which followed the AGM. Johnson spoke about the state of the game nationally, FA’s national strategy and alignment with NNSWF, the role and importance of NNSWF and member federations in the broader football committee and his vision for football’s future.

Haynes said he was delighted that Johnson made an appearance at NNSWF’s PSC.

“We were really pleased and excited to have James with us which I think says a lot about him as a person that he would make the effort to be here but also the respect he has for NNSWF as an organisation and our football region,” Haynes said.

“It was great that James was able to attend and speak to our Peak Steering Committee about a range of topics which I know everyone really appreciated.

“We are well into our first year of implementing our 2024 to 2026 Strategic Plan which is not just about NNSWF but the entire northern NSW football family. We are dedicated to supporting our member zones and clubs to ensure football remains the largest participation sport in our region and we can continue to deliver positive experiences for our football community.”

The AGM saw the 2023 Annual Report presented as well as the Annual Financial Report, with Ossie Bellamy awarded life membership of Northern NSW Football.

Bellamy has been an integral part of the NNSWF community over many years, serving as an administrator, referee, player, coach and trainer.

The NNSWF Board of Directors re-elected Mike Parsons as chairman of the organisation.

Parsons was pleased with his reappointment and confident about the game’s future in the region.

“I am honoured that my fellow directors have shown confidence in my leadership by unanimously re-electing me as chair for another term,” Parsons said.

“I thank my fellow board members for their expertise and commitment and look forward to our continued collaboration.

“We will continue to build the much-valued relationships with our member zones and stakeholders as we deliver through living our organisation’s core values.”

The NNSWF Directors also named David Willoughby as the deputy-chair.

A Peak Steering Committee meeting followed the AGM, which saw member zone chairs and general managers as well as standing committee chairs invited to attend, with important strategic issues considered and discussed.
