NNSWF to host 2023 Indigenous Round this weekend

Northern NSW Football’s Indigenous Round will be held this weekend, from 30 June to 2 July, to celebrate and recognise the contributions of First Nations members of our football community.

With a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, Indigenous Round provides an opportunity to recognise the history, culture and achievements of First Nations participants.

NNSWF Female Participation and Inclusion Officer Nat Boyd said she looked forward to another successful Indigenous Round this weekend.

“Indigenous Round is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate diversity within our football community,” Boyd said.

“Special rounds such as this allow clubs to engage with their community on important issues.”

Indigenous Round coincides with the national NAIDOC Week and a host of NNSWF initiatives including NAIDOC Cup. The competition is returning for a second year after its success in 2022.

“The NAIDOC Cup is a wonderful chance for Indigenous footballers to represent Northern NSW Football against Indigenous teams from Football NSW,” Boyd said.

“We want more football opportunities for First Nations communities within northern NSW and this is a chance to showcase the next generation of coaches and players.”
