Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce that six NNSWF referees have been selected as match officials to officiate at the 2025 Football Australia Emerging Socceroos and Matildas Championships.
Flynn Cope, Caleb Low, Lucy Hungerford and Hayden Langholz will officiate at the Emerging Socceroos Championships held at the Home of the Matildas, Melbourne to be played from 6 to 11 July.
Tess Brumfield and Annie Hook will officiate at the Emerging Matildas Championships held at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood to be played from 15-10 July.
Cope, Low, Brumfield and Hook were nominated to Football Australia to take part in the competitions by the NNSWF State Referee Committee. After nominated referees completed a high-performance fitness test, Football Australia selected the best available candidates to officiate at the tournaments.
Hungerford was nominated by Football Australia as one of six female referees to officiate at the Emerging Socceroos Championships.
NNSWF junior and former NPL NNSW match official Langholz was nominated by Football NSW for the tournament.
Hook is the first NNSWF - Northern Inland based referee to be selected for the national tournaments.
Emerging Matildas and Socceroos Championships are Football Australia’s premier national youth tournaments, forming an important part of the talent identification program and the national team pathway.
During the two tournaments, all five referees will be given the opportunity to be coached and assessed under the guidance of experienced Football Australia instructors.
NNSWF General Manager Referee Growth & Development Brad Carlin was thrilled to have NNSWF representation at the tournaments.
“It is fantastic that NNSWF has five talented referees selected to take part in the 2025 Emerging Matildas and Socceroos Championships,” Carlin said.
“Each referee has performed extremely well locally this season and we can’t wait to see them shine on a national level. These selections are a direct reflection of their talent and skills.
“These tournaments provide valuable opportunities for referees to develop and advance in an enjoyable learning experience.”
