NNSWF match officials selected for 2022 National Youth Championships

Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce four of its match officials have been selected to officiate at the 2022 Football Australia National Youth Championships.

Riley Kirkaldy, Hayden Langholz, Joshua Attard and Layton Farley have been chosen to officiate at the boys National Youth Championships at Coffs Harbour in September.

The NNSWF State Referee Committee chose the quartet on the basis of their impressive performances in NNSWF Premier Competitions so far this season and their potential to become high performance match officials.

Kirkaldy and Langholz hold full Level 2 referee accreditation and have made their debuts refereeing NPL Men’s NNSW first grade matches this season. Attard and Farley regularly officiate on NPL Men’s NNSW reserve grade matches and are expected to attain their Level 2 accreditation early next year.

With the National Youth Championships returning after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is an exciting time in Australian football as the tournament provides a valuable opportunity for developing referees under the guidance of experienced Football Australia referee instructors.

NNSWF Referee Manager Brad Carlin congratulated the quartet on their selections and wished them well for the tournament.

“The National Youth Championships are an important part of a match official’s development and I’m thrilled that four of our referees will get the benefit of this chance to impress on the national stage,” Carlin said.

“Riley, Hayden, Joshua and Layton are all talented match officials who are deserving of their selections. The National Youth Championships feature the best players for their age from across the country, so match officials need to be of the same high standard.

“With continued support and hard work, I am confident of our four referees enjoying a very successful tournament.”
