NNSWF players encouraged to make their mark at 2025 Emerging Socceroos Championships

Northern NSW Football Technical Director Ryan Doidge is confident NNSWF players will use the opportunity to play in the Emerging Socceroos Championships to showcase their talent and leverage it as a crucial step towards future success.

Players from across the country are preparing to travel to Melbourne where the 2025 Football Australia Emerging Socceroos Championships will kick off on Sunday.

Doidge will attend the boys tournament, watching over some of the region’s most talented players. His role throughout the tournament will also include supporting NNSWF coaches and providing professional development opportunities for players and coaches.

“We are confident in our talent identification process over the last 12 months,” Doidge said.

“We have worked closely with our talent support program coaches across our whole region in metro and regional zones as we continue our strong relationship with the Newcastle Jets. We are excited about the squads we have selected.

“Our processes have allowed us to select two strong teams and for a third year in a row, our teams are made up of players from six of our member zones, showcasing talent from the north coast down to the Hunter.”

The Emerging Socceroos Championship will be played at the Home of the Matildas, La Trobe University, from Sunday 6 July to Friday 11 July.

All member federations will be represented at the tournament, with NNSWF entering under-15s and 16s boys teams.

Football Association of Malaysia will participate in the Emerging Socceroos Championships for the first time. The Malaysian under-15s national team will compete in the under-15s age group, the first international team to compete in the tournament.

“The Emerging Socceroos Championships provide a great foundation for our players to compete with other identified individuals from all across the country,” Doidge said.

“On the back of a successful National Youth Championship for Boys last year, including the identification of NNSWF players going into national tournaments and the respective squads placing well, it showcases the potential future opportunities for our players.

“It is important for NNSWF to build off last year’s success and promote the level of talent we have in our region in front of national team staff.

“I hope they all return from the tournament having given everything they can across the week and are proud to represent their area.

“I wish the very best of luck to all of our players and coaches for the upcoming championships.”
