Match of the Round
Port United 0-3 Northern Storm

Northern Storm secured its place in the finals with a 3-0 victory over Port United on Saturday.

Storm got off to a fast start at Dixie Park when James Tial gave them the lead inside six minutes.

Harrison Scott doubled the visitors’ advantage 20 minutes into the second half before Ethan Andrews sealed the result for Northern Storm with a third goal five minutes later.

The win saw Northern Storm strengthen their hold on first place in group B, with two wins from two games played.

Port United are third on three points but, having played all three of their group matches, are now eliminated from the competition.

Northern Storm still needs to play Port Saints in their rescheduled round one fixture to determine who finishes top of group B.

Armidale City Westside 2-3 Port Saints FC

Port Saints also secured its place in the semi-finals with a 3-2 victory over Armidale City Westside on Saturday.

Travis Chandley-Pascoe gave Port the lead after just six minutes at Harris Park before he doubled the advantage on 66 minutes.

Armidale City pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Aiden Webster in the 73rd minute before the hosts dramatically drew level seven minutes later through Jye Saxby.

But Chandley-Pascoe was to be the hero, stepping up to score from the penalty spot and complete his hat-trick seven minutes from full-time to secure the three points and a spot in the knockout stage for Port Saints.

Port Saints will play Northern Storm to determine the winner of group B in their rescheduled round one fixture, while Armidale City Westside’s inaugural Northern NSW Regional Super League campaign is over.

The defeat for Urunga sees them eliminated from the competition.
