Q&A with Alex Nolan, Coach, CPL Coffs Coast All-Stars
The CCAS play the Newcastle Jets on Thursday, 25 August 2022 at 7 pm at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.
What’s your approach to the game? The Jets will be looking to fine polish their principles and style of play before the season commences, and we’re lucky enough to be involved in helping the process and hopefully throw some problems to them. We have an energetic squad of 19 players excited to showcase the best talent on the North Coast. Obviously, it will be no easy task, but with plenty of fresh legs, I think it will be an excellent opportunity for many of our young players to challenge themselves against one of the top teams in the country.
What’s your preparation been like? Watching plenty of CPL Men’s games this season, I wanted to not only get the best young talent on the coast, but also some experienced players who can help guide the younger boys at training and in the games. We’ve got limited sessions before the match; however, getting the boys together and training with the desire and intensity of how we want to play on the night is all part of the experience. There are two to four players from each club and while they are familiar with playing each other on the pitch each week, it’s been great to get them all together.
What are you looking forward to about the game? For the young players, playing against an A-League squad in front of a potentially big home crowd will be a night they won’t forget. The whole preparation for this game will provide these players a professional experience that they probably haven’t experienced before and I think they will learn and absorb the whole experience over the next two weeks.
