Northern NSW Football is thrilled to announce that registrations are now officially open for all participants ahead of the 2026 season.
Players, coaches, volunteers and match officials can register through PlayFootball to get involved in football this year.
NNSWF General Manager Member Services Ross Hicks said he was excited about the continued growth of football across the region.
“In 2025 we recorded another landmark year, with 114,232 registered participants across northern NSW,” Hicks said.
“That included a 17 per cent increase in registered coaches, a 20 per cent rise in registered players and a 3.5 per cent increase in registered clubs.
“Building on that momentum, we are confident 2026 will be another successful and enjoyable year of football for everyone involved.”
NNSWF CEO Peter Haynes said he looked forward to another strong season of football across northern NSW.
“We’re anticipating another big year of football across the region,” Haynes said.
“With the Matildas competing in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on home soil and the Socceroos playing in their sixth consecutive FIFA World Cup, strong momentum from last season and continued support from NNSWF, our member zones and clubs, 2026 is shaping up to be a record-breaking year.
“Most importantly, our game remains inclusive and welcoming to everyone, regardless of age or ability.
“I wish the best of luck to all players, coaches, volunteers, match officials and clubs and hope everyone has a rewarding and enjoyable season. I look forward to seeing our football community back on the pitch, enjoying the game we all love.”
NNSWF have provided campaign assets and other tools to help clubs develop and implement strategies and initiatives to recruit and retain players, coaches, referees and volunteers. Clubs can access recruitment resources HERE.
NNSWF also has a number of training opportunities to help clubs prepare for the 2026 season. These include webinars created by the dedicated NNSWF staff on volunteer recruitment, duty officer training, child safety and Working with Children Check as well as information on Football Australia’s Club Changer club improvement program.
