Northern NSW Football has appointed Wendy Schafer as an Appointed Director for a two-year term, further strengthening the member federation’s governance through her extensive experience in member zone leadership, regional football and community governance.
A former President of North Coast Football, Schafer has made a significant contribution to football across regional northern NSW. Her appointment adds valuable member zone expertise to the board while strengthening its regional perspective and gender diversity.
NNSWF Chair David Willoughby said Schafer's appointment would enhance the board's ability to represent and support football communities across northern NSW.
"Wendy brings extensive experience in football governance and a deep understanding of the important role our member zones play in growing and supporting the game," Willoughby said.
"Her leadership as president of North Coast Football has given her valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges facing regional football and that perspective will be a tremendous asset to our board.
"We are committed to ensuring our board reflects the breadth of experience across our football community. Wendy's appointment strengthens our regional representation and gender diversity while adding another highly respected football leader to the organisation.

Schafer said she was honoured to join the NNSWF Board of Directors and contribute to the future of the game.
"Football has given me the opportunity to work alongside wonderful volunteers, clubs and communities across our region and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the game in this new role," Schafer said.
"I look forward to working with my fellow directors to help grow football across northern NSW and ensure our clubs, member zones and participants continue to thrive."
As well as NNSWF Chair David Willoughby and Deputy Chair Mike Parsons, Schafer joins Lauren Edwards, Lisa Evans, Paul Sandilands and Stephen Sneddon on the NNSWF Board of Directors.
Schafer's appointment takes effect immediately.
