Northern NSW Football has named its squads for the 2024 NAIDOC Cup.
The NAIDOC Cup is a unique opportunity for First Nations footballer to showcase their skills, connect with other players and celebrate country, culture and language.
A total of 64 First Nations players between the ages of 12 and 16 and eight First Nations coaches will be part of this exciting tournament.
The NAIDOC Cup is a great way to bring the community together and create engagement with the event with under-14s and under-16s boys and girls matches against Football New South Wales at Lake Macquarie Football Facility between Wednesday 10 July to Friday 12 July.
NNSW Legacy Development Officer – First Nations Football Programs Mick Hugo is excited for the upcoming tournament.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity for a third consecutive year to celebrate Indigenous culture and showcase the talent of the First Nations players from across the state,” Hugo said.
“The NAIDOC Cup is a great chance for young players to develop their skills, learn from experienced coaches and connect with other First Nations players.”
Last year, NNSWF’s under-14s boys and under-16s girls were awarded the NAIDOC Cup Group winners in their perspective groups but Football NSW were crowned the 2023 NAIDOC Cup winners.
The tournament will be live-streamed on Bar TV. Stay tuned for more updates and join us in supporting our First Nations players as they represent Northern NSW at this year's NAIDOC Cup.
NNSWF congratulates all players and coaches on their selections and wishes them all the best for the 2024 tournament.
