2025 Football Australia National Futsal Championships Tournament Wrap

Football Australia’s 2025 National Futsal Championships came to a close on Sunday after five hard-fought days of competition.

Each of Northern NSW Football’s five teams gave it there all throughout the tournament, with enjoyment and development the key takeaways from the week.

Two of NNSWF's teams progressed into finals after finishing in the top four of their groups.

The under-13s girls missed out on the finals but played Football NSW Country in the play-off where they won 5-4 on penalties. Breanna Ford, Rose Harvey, Sienna Brideson, Sophie Whale and Molly MacFarlane each hit the back of the net.

The under-14s boys finished their tournament on Friday placing fifth in their pool.

NNSWF’s under-15s girls advanced through to the quarter-finals after they finished fourth in their group. The team then wrapped up their tournament after going down 6-2 to Football Queensland. Arabelle Rose and Ruby Young each got their name on the scoresheet.

The under-16s boys went down 3-1 to Football South Australia in their final group match, with a goal from Max Alcon. The team finished sixth overall, missing out on finals.

After finishing fourth in their group, NNSWF’s open women’s team advanced to the quarter-finals. They went down 6-0 Captial Football Blue, ending their tournament.

NNSWF Futsal Manager Damon Shaw was pleased that all five NNSWF sides were able to showcase their talents on the national stage.

“Overall, we were really pleased with the efforts from all of our players and coaches. The five sides did themselves, the region and everyone involved in Northern NSW Football proud,” Shaw said.

“There were many great performances both as a team and individually from NNSWF but we know that we still have plenty room to grow and develop in years to come.

“NNSWF’s return to Football Australia’s National Futsal Championships allowed us to see where we match up against the best across the country and shape our plans for the future of futsal in northern NSW.”
