In a huge boost for local match officials the Football Mid North Coast levy on referee payments will not continue in 2026.
A 10% levy on payments made to match officials was introduced to support the administration costs of match official appointments and match official development. This will result in Match Officials receiving 10% more for their efforts in 2026.
‘I applaud the Football Mid North Coast board for endorsing the removal of the levy on referee payments. This means match officials will be paid 10% more in 2026. This has been identified as one more barrier that we are able to remove clearing the way for more match officials to gain accreditation.’ FMNC General Manager Phillip Andrews.
‘Our match officials will continue having access to monthly education updates delivered through online meetings right through the 2026 season. Match officials from across our zone will also compete for selection to officiate at Northern NSW Football delivered tournaments like the Women’s State Cup, Champion of Champions and State Youth Championships. said Andrews.
Northern NSW Football is supporting FMNC recruitment of referees through their Super Sunday initiative.
‘On the 30th November 2025 entry level C3 referee courses will be delivered in every zone in NNSWF. Gaining accreditation as a match official involves completing components online and then attending a face to face workshop with the next workshop to be delivered at Laurieton United Services Club on the 30th November starting at 9.30am.’ said Andrews
