Across the region Football Mid North Coast clubs are embracing Female Football Week (FFW).
Female Football Week is a national initiative driven by Football Australia.
The range of activities used by clubs is quite extensive and include:
- Training sessions for juniors conducted by senior female players
- Match day celebrations
- Coles miniroos players walking adult players onto the pitch
- Youth teams training alongside adult teams
- Facebook player profiles
- Facebook shout outs to female volunteers
- Clinics for community players
- FFW Barbecues
- FFW social functions
“It is fantastic to see so many clubs embrace Female Football Week.” said FMNC General Manager Phillip Andrews
“FFW gives every club the opportunity to embrace and celebrate female participation. Numerous clubs are delivering sessions that allow juniors and adults to come together for training sessions and celebrate together.” said Andrews
“I attended a clinic last night when Midcoast FC invited Coles Miniroos players to attend a clinic. The persistent rain did not deter the young players from joining the Midcoast FC players in football activities. FFW highlights the progress already made to increase female participation and the role all levels of football play in celebrating this success. While we take this week to celebrate female participation there remains a significant amount of work to be done to continue to expand female player numbers as well as attracting more female coaches and referees to the game.” said Andrews
Many local clubs have FFW activities across their match days this weekend. Please support these activities and join us in celebrating female participation.
