Pottsville Beach FC’s Fraser Hills will fly the flag for regional players after he was selected in Northern NSW Football’s inaugural All-Stars Challenge, earning a place in the men’s squad ahead of the October 10 fixture.
Hills will represent the Football Far North Coast region when the Umbro Northern NSW Men’s All-Stars take on Capital Football at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, bringing his experience across multiple levels of the game to the new representative competition.
For Hills it is also a chance to show young players across the region what can be possible when they continue to pursue their football.
“It’s a great opportunity to show our local players that even though we’re not based in the bigger metropolitan areas, these opportunities are still there. It’s great to be able to represent regional football and hopefully be a bit of a role model for younger players coming through,” Hills said.
Hills brings experience from across different levels of the game, including a previous stint playing NPL football in Queensland, into the All-Stars environment.
Earlier this year, Hills was named Player of the Match in Pottsville Beach FC’s 2026 Men’s State Community Plate clash against Warners Bay FC, helping his side to a 5-1 victory.
He is now looking forward to bringing that experience into a new group of players and contributing wherever he can when the team takes on Capital Football.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience into the game in a positive way and helping the team, especially some of the players who might be stepping into this sort of environment for the first time,” Hills said.
For Hills, his message to aspiring regional players is simple: continue working hard, seek out opportunities to develop and surround yourself with people who support your ambitions.
“Get out there, work hard and keep putting yourself in good environments. Spend the time finding clubs and coaches that support your goals and give you opportunities to improve,” Hills said.
Hills was not the only regional player recognised during the Northern NSW All-Stars selection process, with North Coast Football’s Charlotte Bunny and Northern Rivers FC’s Zali Black named in the extended Cardiff Motor Group Northern NSW Women’s All-Stars squad.
Bunny began her football journey with Boambee FC before progressing through the North Coast Football pathway and representing the zone in the Premier Youth League.
Black grew up playing with Eureka FC and Byron Bay FC before continuing her football journey in Queensland. She was also selected in the 2026 NNSWF Emerging Matildas Championships squad.
While neither player progressed into the final Cardiff Motor Group Northern NSW Women’s All-Stars squad, their selection in the extended group recognised their individual football journeys and the talent continuing to emerge from northern NSW’s regional zones.
With Hills now preparing to take the field in the inaugural Northern NSW Football All-Stars Challenge, he will carry the Football Far North Coast region with him as northern NSW’s players come together for the first edition of the new representative fixture.
