Kelleher to captain All Stars against the Newcastle Jets

Martin Kelleher has been given the captain’s armband to lead out the the CPL All Stars (North) to face the Newcastle Jets on Thursday 25 August at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.

The 2022 Golden Boot winner is excited to play alongside the best talent on the Coffs Coast with several teenagers looking to impress against the A-League club.

“There’s a lot of young and exciting players in the team,” he said.

“Coach Alex Nolan has a done a great job in instilling a game style that will hopefully bring about plenty of moments in the game that those players can express themselves and show what they can do.”

The squad is comprised of the six Coffs Coast teams which play in the CPL – Bellingen, Boambee, Coffs City United, Coffs Coast Tigers, Northern Storm and Sawtell.

In a coup for the region, the Coffs United marksman is grateful for the opportunity and hopes the affiliation with the 2008 A-League grand-final winners continues.

“Being situated over fours hours from cities with professional sporting clubs, a large portion of the community very rarely get to see any sport at the highest domestic level,” said Magic Marty.

“The community always appreciates the commitment professional clubs make to regional areas and we hope the Jets continue to establish a presence in the area.”

The match kicks off at 7pm and is free entry.
