Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Fisher to the new role of Government Relations Manager.
Fisher has rejoined NNSWF after spending time with Cricket NSW and Maitland City Council in strategic facility development and government relations. He spent more than six years at NNSWF in club development and compliance roles.
The Government Relations Manager will play a critical role in creating and implementing processes, procedures and resources to advocate and secure funding for infrastructure, programs and initiatives that increase access to quality playing spaces.
The position will be integral in fostering strong, collaborative and lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels of government, member zones and football clubs.
Fisher was excited to hit the ground running in his new role.
“I am looking forward to working closely with member zones and clubs to connect them to all levels of government for the improvement and upgrade of their football facilities,” Fisher said.
“The aim of my role is to correct the facilities gap that exists in football and in particular facilities in regional areas.
“The main focus in this space will be to implement improved drainage to safeguard against extreme weather conditions to ensure more football can be played, multi-gendered changerooms to accommodate more participants in particular women and girls and lighting infrastructure to increase scheduling flexibility and available playing hours.”
NNSWF General Manager Member Services Ross Hicks was thrilled with Fisher’s return to the organisation.
“We are excited to have Gary Fisher come back on board with us as our Government Relations Manager,” Hicks said.
“Gary is well established within the government network with significant experience and a proven track record of improving places to play sport in our region. He has a detailed understanding of the football landscape and strong relationships with many stakeholders at all levels of government, member zones and clubs.”
NNSWF CEO Peter Haynes was pleased to make the appointment.
“The Government Relations Manager role will help fulfill NNSWF’s aim of enhancing the quality and quantity of football facilities across northern NSW in alignment with NNSWF’s Strategic Plan 2024-26, in particular the Participating pillar,” Haynes said.
“The role underpins NNSWF’s strategic priority of leading football advocacy on behalf of the football community, ensuring that we are positioned as a trusted partner to governments and capable of delivering outcomes that benefit the broader community.
“We look forward to having Gary rejoin NNSWF and I’m excited to see the impact he can make on football across northern NSW.”
