NNSWF Facilities Fund awards more than $200k to community clubs

The seventh round of NNSWF’s Facilities Fund has seen $200,625 awarded to community clubs.

Applications were received from nine clubs representing five member zones and premier clubs, with five successful projects chosen.

Football Mid North Coast club Port Saints FC will receive $100,000 for drainage to their fields. While Gloucester SC will receive $44,250 to upgrade amenities.

North Coast Football club Boambee FC will receive $10,000 to upgrade their main playing field. While Hunter Valley Football club Muswellbrook FC will receive $30,000 for installation of grandstand seating.

Macquarie Football club Lake Macquarie City FC will receive $16,375 to build a safety pedestrian bridge for all participants.

Northern NSW Football’s Facilities Fund was established in 2019 and aligns with the NSW Football Infrastructure Strategy.

The fund has seen NNSWF invest $1,607,532 in community football infrastructure projects since its inception, with partnering funding of $3,714,715 taking the total project value to $5,322,247.

NNSWF General Manager Member Services Ross Hicks said funding came from a portion of player registration fees, with football money going back into helping football clubs.

“The Facilities Fund provides clubs another avenue to seek significant funding for facility projects and in turn increase participation, improve safety and security, assist in building stronger communities through football and improve the overall football experience for their members and stakeholders,” Hicks said.

“We have seen the positive impacts the fund has already had on clubs and their facilities. It is great that another five of NNSWF’s community clubs have been able to benefit.”

The NNSWF Facilities Fund was established to help clubs partner with local stakeholders such as Local Government Authorities, state government, schools, other sports and relevant landowners to:

  • Improve the football experience for players, referees, coaches and volunteers
  • Provide opportunities for more participants to play more football more often
  • Upgrade facilities to better meet the needs of women, girls and participants with a disability
  • Address issues which undermine the safety and/or security of participants

NNSWF is committed to providing an enjoyable football experience for all, which is a strategic pillar in NNSWF’s Strategic Plan 2024-26. NNSWF’s priority is to support clubs and enhance facilities to increase the game’s capacity.
