NNSWF has restructured its Referee Department by adding two important positions to continue its investment in match officials and refereeing.
NNSWF has recruited FIFA match official Casey Reibelt as its High Performance Referee Coach and Mark Carter as its Regional Referee Education and Development Coordinator.
Reibelt will be responsible for the establishment of NNSWF’s Referee Academy and the education and development of the talented young referees selected for it.
The purpose of the two-year academy program is to further the knowledge, skills and advancement of the referees so that they can be given opportunities to be selected and prepared for important FA tournaments and events and perform at their optimal level.
Reibelt is a current A-League Men’s and Women’s Referee and Video Assistant Referee as well as being a FIFA accredited referee. She officiated at the FIFA Women’s World Cups in 2019 and 2023 and has won the A-League Women Referee of the Year award four times.
The primary purpose of Carter’s role will be to improve the number and standard of community match officials across the four regional zones Football Mid North Coast, Football Far North Coast, North Coast Football and NNSWF - Northern Inland.
Carter has been a referee in northern NSW for several years, working his way through the community ranks with Macquarie Football to become one of the most experienced first grade referees in the NPL Men’s NNSW competition.
General Manager Referee Growth & Development Brad Carlin was thrilled with what the expansion in the department would mean for referees across the region.
“I am excited to welcome Casey and Mark and look forward to the contribution they make to the growth and development of referees across northern NSW,” Carlin said.
“Casey continues to set the benchmark for referees and is a fantastic role model for current and aspiring match officials.
“Mark has been a dedicated match official and referee educator for many years and I look forward to watching the impact he will make across our regional member zones.”
