Coastal League One Women’s teams will play off for a grand final spot with semi-finals set to be decided this weekend in Urunga and Boambee, during the competition’s inaugural finals series.
Premiers Urunga Raiders play host to the Macleay Valley Rangers in their semi-final showdown on Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders finished on top of the ladder in the home and away season winning all of their matches, with the Rangers finishing fourth.
The Raiders have beaten the Rangers in all four meetings this season, including a 4-1 victory in their most recent encounter at Rangers Park in the penultimate round of the season.
The Boambee Eagles and Coffs City United Lionesses will play off for a grand final berth in their semi-final showdown at Ayrshire Park.
If their previous meetings are anything to go by, then this semi-final is set to be a close affair.
The Eagles have three wins and a draw against the Lionesses this season, with all three victories by one goal including their previous meeting, with the Eagles taking the honours with a 2-1 victory.
Lionesses captain Jordan Maddalena was looking forward to taking on the Eagles after some close encounters.
“It will be a cracker game as we have come close in goal difference in our past few encounters,” she said.
The winners of this weekend’s semi-finals will play off in the inaugural Coastal League One Women grand final on Saturday, 17 September at the Ce.x Coffs International Stadium.
