Trials for FA National Futsal Championships announced

Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce open trials for its teams to compete at Football Australia’s National Futsal Championships 2026.

NNSWF will enter the national competition for the second year in a row after a successful 2025 tournament, with trials taking place across the northern NSW region from late June.

NNSWF will take six teams to the tournament, three boys and three girls' teams with final selection taking place in Term 4 from successful trialists. 

The tournament is Football Australia’s primary futsal competition and provides the opportunity for the best futsal players from across the region to compete and showcase their talent on the national stage.

NNSWF will select squads made up of the best futsal talent in the region through affiliated leagues, competitions, recommendations and open trials.

NNSWF will hold trials in multiple locations across northern NSW including Ballina, Newcastle, Tamworth, Port Macquarie and Byron Bay.

NNSWF Futsal Development Manager Damon Shaw was pleased to make the announcement.

“The Football Australia National Futsal Championships are a fantastic opportunity for our best futsal players to shine on the national stage,” Shaw said.

“It was a huge success for NNSWF to return to the national tournament in 2025 and we are eager to build on that success again for the 2026 competition.

“After signing agreements with all of the major futsal leagues and clubs across the region, Northern NSW Football can now offer the best pathway to more futsal players. With the launch of the NNSWF Futsal Academy, affiliated leagues and the schools pathway, I am confident that more players will have the chance to be identified and represent NNSWF.

“Trials will take place in several locations across northern NSW to give as many players as possible the opportunity to be identified. We are looking for the best talent from across the region to be part of our squads.”
