Community football officially kicks off across northern NSW for 2026

Happy faces will fill pitches across northern NSW as community football officially kicks off this weekend.

Thousands of players will take to the pitch across Hunter Valley Football, Newcastle Football, Macquarie Football and Football Mid North Coast member zones from children to adults including youth and senior age grade and Coles MiniRoos.

North Coast Football’s youth and senior competitions will also kick off this weekend, after some senior competitions kicked off a week earlier. Coles MiniRoos football will begin on the first weekend of May.

Senior community football in Football Far North Coast and Northern Inland began at the end of March and on the second weekend of April respectively, with Coles MiniRoos and youth football to start on the first weekend of May

NNSWF General Manager Member Services Ross Hicks said he was thrilled for the community season to begin.

“The start of the football season is always something we look forward to as teams return to the field and communities celebrate the beginning of a new season,” Hicks said.

“We’re excited to see another strong year across all competitions and look forward to players of all ages and abilities enjoying their football throughout northern NSW.

“I’d also like to thank all of our volunteers, coaches and parents for their ongoing dedication and support, which is vital to the success of the game. Best of luck to all players and match officials for the season ahead.”

Hicks also thanked Newcastle Permanent, NNSWF’s major partner of community football, for its continued support on behalf of the northern NSW football family.
