Katie Thorn netted a hat-trick as the Urunga Raiders secured a commanding 4-1 victory over the Coffs United Lionesses in a thrilling top-of-the-table encounter at Forsyth Park last Saturday.
Thorn opened the scoring early on, latching onto a precise through ball from Bre Martin and slicing through the Lionesses' defence with ease before slotting the ball into the roof of the net.
The Raiders maintained their momentum as Prue Burnet added a second goal, giving Urunga a comfortable 2-0 lead at the halftime break.
Thorn continued to torment the Lionesses' defence in the second half. Reacting quickly to a loose ball, she outpaced the defenders and fired the ball into the bottom corner with both power and precision.
Despite Georgia Silvy pulling one back for the Lionesses, Thorn completed her hat-trick five minutes before the final whistle, sealing a decisive win for the Raiders.
