Newcastle Football appoint Match Official Executive

It is our pleasure to introduce Dilan Houston, our new Match Officials Executive.

Dilan has agreed to help us in a casual role to oversee our Newcastle Zone referees in delivering training, coaching, mentoring and leadership to our most important function.

This is a key commitment from our AGM and part of fulfilling one of our 3 strategy pillars of PLAY, (Newcastle Football Strategy pillars PLAY/HOST/GROW).

We cannot actively recruit Match Officials until we create an environment where they are comfortable and where they can grow and develop their skills.

Dilan is an excellent official, previously refereeing at Zone League and NL1 level. He was in the frame of moving into NPL level but turned his hand to coaching, most recently guiding the Mayfield Seniors AA/W to multiple Championships.

When we identified that we needed someone to support our referees, we managed to convince him to step back into officiating.

He has updated his refereeing qualifications after spending the off-season with NNSWF Referee Manager Brad Carlin.

He is a great addition to our team.

He joins our Coaching and Development Co-Ordinator Nick Fakes as another little cog to our wheel, and he will be performing a long-overdue function of supporting and growing our referees.

He will work closely with Brad and Riley on training and accreditation's and with Rachel on appointments.
