Rules & Safety
Coffs Football 6’s is a lot less formal than traditional football. That said, CF6 still needs some rules to make sure people have a safe time and a good time. Here’s how we play.
Staff
Our venue staff are in black gear and are in charge. They’re there to get matches started on time, ensure everyone is safe and get the scores into the system. If they ask or require you to do something, please do it.
Match rules
CF6 matches are played under rules adopted from football’s governing bodies in Australia. They will be published here prior to the start of each competition.
The latest edition of the rules is version 1.0. They can be viewed as here as a web page.
The basics
- Six players and two or more reserves per team
- Smaller pitches, goals and game length
- 20 minute halves
- Unlimited substitutions – perfect for all fitness levels
- No training required – just turn up and play
The ball
We’re using a ball that has been specifically designed for small-sided matches – the revolutionary Deploy Ligeiro size 5 outdoor ball. It’s been designed to have less bounce than a traditional ball but play quicker and faster with less time chasing the ball when it goes out of play. What is Ligeiro? Ligeiro translates to light, fast, quick in Portuguese. Fitting for this football. Deploy is the official football of North Coast Football and the training ball of the North Coast Football Player Development Program.

Venue rules
Coffs Harbour City Council is the owner of the C.ex Coffs International Stadium, Coffs Coast Sport and Leisure Park and the Coffs Football Centre.
Coffs Football 6’s rents the Coffs Football Centre from the council and as result is obliged to follow the terms and conditions of hire.
Council is in the process of updating the “Conditions of entry” in addition to what’s on the right to include a prohibition in the venue of the consumption and carry of alcohol and the use of vaporisers and similar devices.
