Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce three upcoming para football – CP talent ID and come and try events.
This will be the first time that NNSWF has held events for para footballers who are located across the northern NSW region.
Two talent ID/come and try events will take place in Lake Macquarie in April and May, while another event will be held in Coffs Harbour in June ahead of the 2025 National Para Championships later this year.
The events are opportunities for people of all ages with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury (ABI) and symptoms resulting from stroke to be identified for the NNSWF team to compete at the National Para Championships as well as an opportunity for first timers to come and try the sport.
NNSWF Participation & Women's Football Officer Serena Carter looked forward to promoting football for para-athletes in the region.
“The talent identification and come and try events will provide our para footballers from across our region access to football and the opportunity to showcase their talent,” Carter said.
“Last year was a very successful year for NNSWF’s para football – CP. We took our first team to the National Para Championships tournament and placed fourth and had six northern NSW juniors selected for the IFCPF Men’s and Women’s World Cup 2024, where the ParaMatildas were crowned world champions.
“The National Para Championships are vital to the player pathway as they offer selectors the opportunity to scout and identify new talent for training camps and upcoming major tournaments.”
